Snap Camera v1.0.005 Apk Android App

Posted on 06:10 by Unknown

Snap Camera v1.0.005
Snap Camera v1.0.005
Requirements: Android 2.3.3+
Overview: A Whole New Camera Experience!

Snap is a camera and gallery application based on the camera included in Android 4.2 on the Nexus 4.
Take pictures and record video with a single click, no cluttered preview screen, just the two buttons you really need.

It has a simple, powerful user interface. Touch to focus, pinch to zoom, swipe to review and long press for photo settings. The photo controller includes settings for colour, contrast and sharpness (if supported by the hardware). The additional settings menu gives you access to: Picture and Video Size, Scene mode, Self Timer, Burst Mode, Time Lapse, Still and Video Focus Modes, JPEG Quality, Effects, ISO and Anti-banding.

The powerful photo editor lets you add colour effects, borders, crop, rotate, mirror and straighten. You can also choose image effects, histogram modification and vignette. Undo an effect at any time from the history menu.

Share an image with any other app such as Facebook or Google+ by clicking on the share icon.

Snap works best on newer phones but will still run on older models.

The extra settings on the controller menu are only available on phones that support them. Most phones based on Qualcomm hardware do support these options but most others do not.

Camera apps are notoriously difficult to make compatible with all hardware. If it doesn't work, please don't rate the app badly, let us know and we will try to fix it.

Please post bugs and suggestions on the XDA thread for this app by clicking on "Visit Developer's Website" below.

 What's in this version : (Updated : Dec 29, 2012)

Fix video trimming, lots of compatibility fixes.
Bug fixes for compatibility, fix preview when video size changes.

Top 10 Windows 8 tips and tricks : PC Tips

Posted on 06:02 by Unknown
Windows 8 tiles

Customize your tiles
Make the most of your Windows Start screen tiles by adjusting the sizes, where they are located, and what is listed.
  • Move any tile by clicking and dragging the tile. While moving a tile, if you need a larger view of the Start screen move the tile towards the top or bottom of the screen to zoom out.
  • Use your mouse wheel to scroll left-to-right through your tiles.
  • Any Desktop shortcut or program can be pinned to the Start screen by right-clicking the icon and choosing Pin to Start.
  • In the bottom right-hand corner of the start screen is a magnifying glass with tiles, click this icon to get a zoomed out view of your Start screen. In this view, if you right-click on a group of tiles you'll be given the option to name group, which can be useful if you have a group of related tiles (e.g. games). In this view, you can also click and drag a group to organize your tile groups.
  • Create a new speed bump between tile groups by moving a tile to a speed bump.
  • Resize any User tile or Live tile by right-clicking the tile and choosing resize.
  • If there is a tile you want on your Taskbar, right-click the tile and choose Pin to taskbar.
  • Show admin applications on the Start screen by clicking Settings in Charms, click Settings, and change the Show administrative tools from No to Yes.
  • In Internet Explorer 10, you can also pin any of your favorite web pages to your Start Screen.
Windows 8 keyboard shortcuts
Knowing at least some of the Windows 8 keyboard shortcuts will make your Windows 8 experience much more enjoyable. Try to memorize these top Windows 8 shortcut keys.
  • Press the Windows key to open the Start screen or switch to the Desktop (if open).
  • Press the Windows key + D will open the Windows Desktop.
  • Press the Windows key + . to pin and unpin Windows apps on the side of the screen.
  • Press the Windows key + X to open the power user menu, which gives you access to many of the features most power users would want (e.g. Device Manager and Command Prompt).
  • Press the Windows key + C to open the Charms.
  • Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings, which is the same Settings found in Charms.
  • Press and hold the Windows key + Tab to show open apps.
  • Press the Windows key + Print screen to create a screen shot, which is automatically saved into your My Pictures folder.

Know your hot corners
The corners on your screen are hot corners and give you access to different Windows features. Below, is a brief explanation of each of these corners.
Bottom Left-hand corner
The bottom left-hand hot corner of the screen will allow you to access the Start screen, if you're in the Start screen and have the Desktop open, this corner will open the Desktop from the Start screen.
Tip: Right-clicking in the left hand corner will open the power user menu.
Top-left corner of the screen
Moving the mouse to the top-left corner and then down will display all the apps running on the computer. Clicking and dragging any of these apps to the left or right-hand side of the screen will snap that app to that side of the screen. Each of these open app icons can also be right-clicked to close or snap.
Right-hand side of the screen
On the full right-hand side of the screen will be given access to the Windows Charms.

Taking advantage of search
The Search in Windows 8 has been significantly improved when compared to all previous versions of Windows. To search for a file or run a program in Windows 8 from the Start screen just start typing what you're trying to find or want to run.
As you begin typing, the results will start appearing on the left-hand side. In addition to being able to search for files and run programs, the Search also supports limiting the search to apps such as Finance, People, Maps, Photos, Mail, Music, Videos, Weather, and much more. If what you are searching for is not a file or program, click on the app you wish to use as the search. For example, if you were searching for "New York" and selected the Weather App you would be shown the weather in New York, NY.
By default, Search organizes the available Apps by how frequently they are used and then in alphabetical order. If you want to keep your favorite app at the top of the Search list, right-click the app and choose Pin. Pinning the app will lock it in place regardless of how often it is used. If there is an app you don't want (e.g. Finance) you can turn on and off any of the search apps through the PC settings, which is found under the Settings in the Charms.
Bonus tip: The Search is also found through Charms and can also be opened by pressing Windows key + F.

Running two apps side by side
Any app can be pinned to the left or right-hand side of the screen. For example, open the People app and then press the Windows Key + . (period) to move that app to the right-hand side of the screen, pressing the same keys again will move it to the left-hand side, and pressing the same keys again will make it full screen. While an app is pinned, any other app or program can be opened and loaded into the available space on the screen. For example, in the below picture, we've opened a browser window and have the People app running to monitor our social networks.
Windows 8 People

Any open app can also be pinned using your mouse by clicking at the top of the tile and dragging it to the left or right-hand side of the screen.
Bonus tip: The Desktop can also be pinned to the left or right-hand side of the screen.
Note: In order for snap to work properly your resolution must be at least 1,366 x 768.

Windows 8 Task Manager
The Windows 8 Task Manager has been significantly improved over previous versions of Windows. Some of the new changes include showing a total percent usage at the top of your Processes, which makes it easier to determine total memory and CPU usage, improved Performance graphs, a Startup tab to see startup processes and their impact to system performance, and the App history tab (as shown below) that gives you the total resources an app has used over a period of time. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to start exploring the new Task Manager.
Windows 8 Task Manager

Use a picture password to log into your computer
Windows 8 includes a new feature called Picture password, which allows you to authenticate with the computer using a series of gestures that include circles, straight lines, and taps. Enable this feature if you want a new way to access your computer or have a hard time with passwords.
  1. Open the Windows Charms.
  2. Click Settings and then More PC settings
  3. In the PC settings window click Users and then select Create a picture password
Bonus tip: A four digit pin password can also be created and used to access your computer.
Take advantage of Windows 8 apps
Windows 8 comes included with several apps to help you get the most from your computer. Below are just a few of the included apps.
People
Microsoft touts the People feature in Windows 8 because they understand how many people are using social networks today. In the People feature you'll be able to connect your Windows computer to all the major social networks including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Once connected, you can pin the people app and monitor your social network (as shown below), use People in Search to find people, and get an overview of what is happening in all your social networks.
Windows 8 People

Reader
The Reader app will give you PDF support right out of the box.

SkyDrive
The SkyDrive app will give you access to the Microsoft cloud service SkyDrive, which allows you to store your photos, documents, and other files in the cloud and access or share those files with any computer with Internet access.

Store
Take advantage of the Windows Store and install one or more of the thousands of available apps designed for Windows 8. The Store is found in the Start screen, or use Search to search the Store app for any apps that you are trying to find.
Know the answers to common questions

Top 10 Internet tips and tricks : PC Tips

Posted on 05:47 by Unknown

You don't need the http:// portion of a web page
When typing an Internet address you do not need to type http:// or even www. in the address. For example, if you wanted to visit Computer Hope you could just type computerhope.com and press enter. To make things even quicker, if you're visiting a .com address you can type computerhope and then press Ctrl + Enter to type out the full http://www.computerhope.com address.

Quickly move between the fields of a web page
If you're filling out an online form, e-mail, or other text field you can quickly move between each of the fields by pressing the Tab key or Shift + Tab to move back a field. For example, if you're filling out your name and the next field is your e-mail address you can press the Tab key to switch to the e-mail field.
Tip: This tip also applies to the buttons, if you press tab and the web developer has designed correctly the button should be selected and will allow you to press the space bar or enter to push the button.
Tip: If you have a drop-down box that lists every country or every state you can click that box and then press the letter of the state or country you're looking for. For example, is a drop-down box of States in the United States you could press u on the keyboard to quickly scroll to Utah.

Use Internet search engines to their full potential
Make sure to get the most out of every search result. If you're not finding what you want try surrounding the text in quotes. For example, if you were searching for 'computer help' this actually searches for pages that contain both computer and help and not necessarily pages that have computer and help next to each other. If you search for "computer help" with the quotes around the search query this will only return pages that actually have computer and help next to each other.
Tip: Many new computer users also don't realize that in every search box you can press enter instead of having to move the mouse button over to the Search button.

Protect yourself and avoid bad web sites

Know your Internet browser shortcuts
There are dozens of different shortcut keys that can be used with Internet browsers. Below are a few of our top suggested Internet browser shortcuts.
- Pressing Alt + D in any major Internet browser will move the cursor into the address bar. This is a great way to quickly enter an Internet address without having to click the mouse cursor in the address bar.
- Hold down the Ctrl key and press the + or - to increase and decrease the size of text.
- Press the backspace key or hold down the Alt key + left arrow to go back a page.
- Press F5 to refresh or reload a web page.
- Press F11 to make the Internet browser screen full screen. Press F11 again to return back to the normal view.
- Press Ctrl + B to open your Internet bookmarks.
- Press Ctrl + F to open the find box in the browser to search for text within the web page you're looking at.

Take advantage of tabbed browsing
Take full advantage of tabbed browsing in all Internet browsers today. While reading any web page if you come across a link you may be interested in open that link in a new tab so it can be viewed later. A new tab can be opened by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the link or if you have a mouse with a wheel click the link with the middle mouse button.
Try alternative browsers
Most computer users use the default browser that comes included with the computer, with Microsoft Windows this is Internet Explorer. There are several great alternative browsers that are all free to download and use and may have features your current browser does not include. Below are a few of our favorites, try one or try them all.
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Opera
Install plugins and add-ons
Each of the above alternative browsers also have a large community of volunteers who develop add-ons and plugins that can be added into the browser. Each of these browsers have hundreds of thousands of these add-ons that can do such things as giving you live weather in your browser window, changing its color, and adding additional functionality.

Make sure your browser and its plugins are up-to-date
Each Internet browser can have several additional plugins that give it additional functionality. For example, Adobe Flash is a great way to bring movies and other animated content to the Internet. Keeping these plugins up-to-date is vital for your computer stability and also security. Using the below tool you can quickly verify if your plugins are up-to-date and get links to where to download the latest updates.

Crysis 2 2012 : PC Game

Posted on 03:42 by Unknown

Info:
In the role of a soldier, alone in a devastated urban jungle, players use the super-human abilities provided by a technologically advanced suit to save the world from alien invaders, as they battle through the first-person shooter sequel, Crysis 2. As in the first game, the hero's most important weapon is a high-tech suit that integrates with his body to provide increased defense, enhanced stealth, and various offensive capabilities. The sequel's enemy aliens employ improved situational intelligence and group tactics, calling on players to approach each situation strategically and make the most of the array of powers provided by the suit.

Written by science fiction author Richard Morgan, the story takes place in an embattled New York City. The metropolis crumbles under a full-on invasion, as aliens return in force to annihilate humankind. Conventional weapons and warfare fail against the onslaught, leaving Earth's salvation to the wearer of the revolutionary Nanosuit 2. Using the integrated stealth, strength, and special abilities provided by the futuristic armor -- along with a selection of highly destructive weapons -- players embark on dangerous missions to strike at crucial vulnerabilities and sabotage the alien assault.

The game's multiplayer options include "Crash Site," a team-based mode in which players compete for control of resources that appear regularly on the battlefield, and "Team Instant Action," for pick-up-and-play, squad-based deathmatches. Crysis 2 was developed by Crytek, and runs on the German studio's signature "CryEngine" programming platform, designed to produce exceptional graphics on contemporary consoles and home computers. The game can also be played in stereoscopic 3D with

Windows 8 Tricks, Tips and Shortcuts : PC Tips

Posted on 07:32 by Unknown

Windows 8 Tricks, Tips and Shortcuts

Windows 8 Consumer Preview cracked 1 million downloads shortly after launching last Wednesday and I'm sure many of you have tried it already. Whether you went with a dual-boot, upgrade, clean install or virtual machine, if you're coming from Windows 7 you'll notice significant changes immediately, while others may not be as obvious.
Inevitably, with change comes good and bad -- at least until you learn some tricks that get you back up to speed. I know I've been hitting my head against the wall when things don't behave the way they used to. The Start menu's absence is a perfect example of a radical change. Indeed, the duality of the OS may bring some trouble, but as skeptical as I was, I must admit Microsoft has done a pretty good job of easing many of my concerns.

Metro is undoubtedly very touch-oriented and perhaps a beginner's dream come true. For experienced users, it seems like Windows 8 still holds some promise. The devil is in the details, they say, so besides experimenting with a clean install I tried the upgrade option to see how well it worked. Going from a year-old Windows 7 install to the Consumer Preview was as seamless as you could ask for.
File copy dialogs, the task manager and search look better and work faster, and that adds up for an improved experience. I'm not loving Metro on my desktop since there's little I can currently do with the stock apps, but I wonder if that will be true once my most-used programs take full advantage of live tiles.
Without further ado, here's a shortlist of Windows 8 shortcuts and useful quick tricks I've gathered thus far.
Hot corners
The Start menu is no longer there, but there's a hot corner that makes up for it (unfortunately on multiple screens it's somewhat of a pain to use).
  • Lower-left corner + Left click Goes to the Start screen (Metro).
  • Lower-left corner + Right click Power user shortcut menu (Device Manager, Control Panel, Command Prompt, Power Options, etc.).
  • Upper-left corner Shows open window thumbnails, click to switch between them.
  • Upper screen limit + Click & Drag on desktop Move to left or right to snap the current desktop or Metro app to one side of the screen.
  • Lower-right corner Windows 8 Charm menu or Windows Aero Peak.
  • Upper-right corner Shows Windows 8 charm menu.

Left or right click on the lower-left corner and you'll be surprised with
a useful Windows orb replacement.
Keyboard shortcuts
Windows 8 is very hotkey-heavy, here are some of the shortcuts I find most useful:
  • Windows key Shows the new Start screen (Metro).
  • Win + type keyword Instant application search (same as in Windows 7).
  • Win + D Standard Windows desktop. Also minimizes/restores all open windows in desktop mode.
  • Win + Q Shows all installed apps.
  • Win + W Instant search for settings.
  • Win + F Instant search for files.
  • Win + I Settings sidebar (control panel, network, volume, brightness, notifications, and more).
  • Win + P Shows multi-monitor options, also useful for connecting an external monitor or projector.
  • Win + X Power user shortcut menu (Device Manager, Control Panel, Command Prompt, Power Options, etc.).
  • Win + Z Shows App Bar in Metro applications.
  • Win + . (period) Snaps the current Metro app to the right side of the screen. Do it twice and it will snap to the left.
  • Win + . (period) + Shift Snaps the current Metro app to the left side of the screen.
  • Win + J Switches focus between snapped Metro apps.
  • Win + Page Up / Down Moves full-screen Metro app to secondary monitor.
  • Win + Left / Right arrow Moves and snaps desktop applications in that direction, or to a different monitor.
  • Win + Tab Switches between open applications. Similar to using the left-upper hot corner with a mouse.
  • Win + L Locks Windows.

You can snap Metro apps or your desktop to the side and continue working on the center of the screen.
Another shortcut lets you switch focus between the two.

Showing all apps at once (Windows Phone style) and searching with a few keystrokes is
the Windows 8 equivalent to the old Programs menu.
Get the Start Menu back, orb and all!
Following user posts in our previous Windows 8 articles, I've seen some of you wanting to completely get rid of Metro and get the Windows 7 orb back. If that's the case I'd personally recommend you just stick to Windows 7, but if you already jumped ship there's a trick to do so as discussed on AskVG.
Updated: A second, improved alternative The clever folks at Stardock have released a piece of software called Start 8 that essentially adds a Start button to Windows 8's desktop mode. When you click on it you get a Metro-esque Start menu from where you can search and access other settings.
Remove that pesky wallpaper watermark
As we've seen on older betas, Windows 8 CP shows a wallpaper watermark indicating it's not a final build. The lock screen or Metro UI don't have any similar nagging reminder, and spending a majority of my time in the desktop mode, the message is tacky to say the least. Here's a solution I found circulating on a few forums:
  • Download this zip file and install the InstallTakeOwnership.reg registry file
  • Take Ownership from the shell32.dll.mui file located on C:\Windows\System32\en-US
  • Take Ownership from the basebrd.dll.mui file located on C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\en-US
  • Copy and replace the shell32.dll.mui from the Edited Files to C:\Windows\System32\en-US
  • Copy and replace the basebrd.dll.mui from the Edited Files to C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\en-US
  • Close the Windows Explorer window and open the Command Prompt with Administrator rights (remember that Win + X shortcut?)
  • Type mcbuilder, wait for it to finish and reboot.
Other quick tips
  • Drivers Windows 8 won't suffer the same fate Vista did with drivers. Most Windows 7 drivers will work just fine with the new OS. Nvidia advised GeForce owners to use the readily available 295.73 driver set, while AMD decided to release new Radeon drivers for the Consumer Preview.
  • Recalling storage space after setup Your mileage may vary with a Windows 7 upgrade. It worked great for me but remember this is still beta software. Anyway, if you upgraded you may want to restore files from the Windows.old directory which contains data from your older OS installation and other files used during the setup using the Disk Cleanup tool. Reminder #2: If you upgrade, you can't revert back to Windows 7.

You can recover a few gigabytes worth of storage space if you
clean up after a Windows 8 upgrade.
  • Upgrading to Windows 8 Windows 8 will offer a complete upgrade option from Windows 7, but the same won't be possible if you are using Vista or XP (or the current Consumer Preview for that matter). System requirements for Windows 8 are essentially the same as Windows 7 (which were similar to Vista), so most semi-modern hardware will run it just fine.
  • Metro notifications, turning some of those off Windows 8 encourages you to use a Microsoft account so you can take advantage of neat features like SkyDrive or syncing your OS settings across multiple PCs. However, it will also activate other things like the Messaging Metro app, which looks good, but becomes a nag if you are using a different IM client like Trillian or Pidgin. Windows 8 uses notifications that resembles those of Growl on OS X. You can fully manage, and deactivate the Messenger app notifications from the Settings menu.

Windows 8's notifications look good and serve a purpose, but you may want to be
selective about the programs that can interrupt your workflow.
  • Native screenshots in Win 8 Although using a third-party tool like Droplr remains the easiest way to grab and share a screenshot, Windows 8 finally adds a screenshot shortcut that doesn't require the snipping tool or another program where you can paste the taken image. Win + Prt Sc does the trick, saving a PNG image file on the Pictures folder.

Extend Android battery life in 10 easy ways : Android Tips

Posted on 07:30 by Unknown
With the widespread proliferation of smartphones and tablets in the last few years, a lot of us have become very dependent on our devices. Staying connected all the time has become a necessity now and we can’t do that unless the battery in our device can provide enough juice for daily use. Battery life is one of the things to keep in mind while buying a smartphone or tablet, but even if great battery life is advertised, we might not get the optimum use out of it unless we follow a few guidelines and take some steps. Unnecessary usage and incorrect settings that come out of the box might actually decrease your Android device battery life, so here’s how to extend Android battery life in 10 easy ways!

Extend Android battery life in 10 easy ways:

1. Reduce screen brightness:

Beginning with the simplest of them all, this tip to extend Android battery life pretty much speaks for itself. If you want a super bright screen, prepare for the battery in your device to last for lesser time because a brighter screen is going to drain your battery like no other, and this is especially true for devices with large screens like The Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC One X. The built in auto brightness function will conserve battery and adjusts screen brightness according to ambient light, but it’s rather dim most of the time, so set it manually at a reasonable level.

2. Kill useless background tasks and apps:

A lot of apps run in the background and use up processing power for no good reason, so first make sure that you use apps from reputed sources and developers. Get an app like “Advanced Task Killer” or “Tasker” to see what’s running in the background, so you can stop the unwanted ones as well as clear cache.

3. Uninstall unnecessary apps:

Similar to the previous point, some apps unnecessarily keep checking the internet for updates or notifications and also for ads. So if there’s an app that displays way too many useless notifications, bin it. Also, you can’t really be sure where exactly the app is trying to reach, so the lesser apps you can manage with, the better.

4. Get a proper antivirus solution:

Because of Android being one of the most used operating systems around the world, it is highly targeted by hackers and cyber thieves. With a proper antivirus solution installed, you can be at peace that not only your data and online activity is secure, but also that no malicious apps are running in the background and eating up your precious battery life. Norton Mobile Security and avast! Mobile Security are two good such apps.

5. Turn off services you don’t use:

A lot of people keep Bluetooth, GPS and even Wi-Fi on when there’s really no use for it. When you’re travelling around and not actually transferring data these services consume a lot of battery power, so make sure to turn off these when you step out of the house and turn them on only when you need it. You really don’t need to keep detecting all the Wi-Fi networks around you, you most probably won’t be able to access them anyway.

6. Disable widgets you don’t need:

If you have a load of widgets on your homescreen that keep updating, you’re not going to get much battery life out of your device. Not only do these widgets constantly update and transfer data which can be valuable on limited data plans, they also drain your battery whenever you just whip out your phone to check the time or see if there’s notifications.

7. Turn off haptic feedback and interaction tones:

There’s really no point in getting beep sounds every single time you touch the screen and neither does it make sense to keep haptic feedback on, you know when you’re touching the screen or pressing a button, don’t you? Those keypad tones are also rather annoying other than the fact that it drains that extra bit of battery for no good reason.

8. Get rid of live wallpapers, too much vibration, extra loud ringtones and message tones:

A live wallpaper sure does look super cool, but it requires the GPU to work just a little but harder to render it, which in turn has a negative effect on the battery life. Same with very loud ringtones or message tones, more juice has to be given to the speakers for more volume, so keep it at a moderate level and on silent mode whenever possible. Vibration is another function that drains battery quickly, so choose a type that is noticeable yet not going to sound like a mini earthquake when kept on a table.

9. Make sure to set all notifications to push:

If you’re a social animal and must get notifications for all communications, make sure that all your apps and services are set to push notifications mode, so that you get notified only when there’s something new instead of the phone checking by itself at intervals. This unnecessary checking does reduce the battery life and surprisingly a lot of apps have checks at intervals.

10. Smart usage of high speed networks and how signal strength affects battery:

Your Android device has to work a lot more and consequently demands more power when it has to function in high speed networks like 4G LTE and 3G. So if you’re in an area that doesn’t have great coverage of high speed networks, turn off high speed network access and run on good ‘ol 2G or 2.5G. Similarly, it also has to work more in low signal areas, so don’t be surprised if your phone struggles to keep going on throughout the day in remote places with very low signal strength.

Those were 10 easy ways to extend Android battery life, I’m sure that using all or even some of them if you don’t already will keep your Android device on for longer. Do let us know if there’s something to be added and you’re welcome to share more battery saving tips as well!

The 5 best Android shooters and action game

Posted on 07:27 by Unknown
Android is a platform that has the privilege of having a lot of apps, and a lot of games. There’s been a shift in focus to mobile gaming in the past few years and mobile games are no more just little games with no much story or direction and with low production values. Some of the games are absolutely stunning and they can actually go head to head with some PC games. In fact, some PC games from the past few years have been ported to Android in their full glory like Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Max Payne. But we’re going to consider only original properties here, so read on for the top 5 Android shooters and action games!

The 5 best Android shooters and action games:

Dead Trigger

Top 5 Android shooters - Dead Trigger
This superb first person shooter from Madfinger games was originally a paid app for both iOS and Android, but eventually went free to play after an “unbelievably high” rate of piracy. We’re not doubting that though, it’s one of the best Android shooters on the Google Play Store. You are the survivor of a zombie apocalypse and must complete missions to progress in the game and story, however thin the story might actually be. The missions are of certain basic types like getting from point A to B, defending a door and such, and might get boring after a while, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless. A highlight of the game are the excellent graphics, and people with Tegra powered devices like the Google Nexus 7 are in for a treat, as the graphics are optimized for them.
Price: Free

Shadowgun and Shadowgun DeadZone

Top 5 Android shooters - Shadowgun
Shadowgun is a third person shooter a la Gears of War, you get to play as John Slade a bounty hunter in the future who is tasked with taking down a doctor experimenting on the local populace. Again developed by Madfinger games, it has very good voice acting, graphics and gameplay which includes cover mechanics as well. Shadowgun DeadZone is a spinoff of the original game, and unlike the first it is completely free to play. It’s multiplayer only, and you can actually play deathmatches with upto 12 players from both Android and iOS. It’s one of the best multiplayer Android shooters and matchmaking works really well too. Shadowgun is also available in a THD version with better graphics for Tegra powered devices.
Price: Shadowgun – 4.99$
Shadowgun DeadZone – Free

N.O.V.A. 3 – Near Orbital Vanguard Alliance

Top 5 Android shooters - N.O.V.A. 3
One of the games that set a benchmark for graphics on Android, N.O.V.A. 3 from Gameloft continues the story from previous installments and you play as Kal Wardin, who is called upon once again to save humanity from the Volterites. N.O.V.A. 3 improves upon previous games with respect to graphics and gameplay, and the integrated multiplayer mode makes it one of the most complete Android shooter available. Fans of the Halo and Crysis series will notice similarities, but it’s a solid shooter on it’s own nonetheless.
Price: 6.99$

Dead Space

Top 5 Android shooters - Dead Space
Although it’s named the same as the first game in the Dead Space series, the Android version of the game actually follows a different protagonist called Vandal. It’s set on Titan and takes place somewhere between the storylines of Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Combining the action and grisly horror of its PC counterparts, Dead Space is a fantastic game even though it was released a while ago and has a full fledged plot that seems less like an afterthought like some other games. More than an accompaniment, Dead Space can be considered a full fledged entry into the PC and console series.
Price: 6.99$

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour

Top 5 Android shooters - Modern Combat 4
If you’re a Call of Duty or Battlefield fan, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is one of the Android shooters you absolutely must have. Gameloft’s Modern Combat series blends excellent graphics and tactical shooting into one package and it doesn’t disappoint in any regard. This time around, you get to play as Corporal Joel Blake and the game begins explosively with a beach landing in Hawaii and this momentum stays throughout the relatively short campaign. An integrated multiplayer mode ensures that you won’t let go of Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour that soon, since it’s very fleshed out, complete with different classes and game types. Again, the graphics are excellent and it’s almost as if you’re playing a PC or console game, highly recommended!
Price: 6.99$
So those were our picks for the top 5 Android shooters and action games, do let us know if we’ve missed something and as always comments are welcome!

How to Change the Start Screen Background in Windows 8: PC tricks

Posted on 07:24 by Unknown

How to Change the Start Screen Background in Windows 8
Windows 8’s new Start screen has been hotly debated since the operating system launched in preview mode earlier this year. Acknowledged by some as a bold step into the tablet market, and criticized by many others who prefer the familiar desktop experience, the new 'Modern UI Style' home is here to stay. But beyond not offering a way to bypass this screen (not without the help of third-party utilities), surprisingly Microsoft is also limiting your options when it comes to customizing the Start screen's appearance. You can choose from a couple color schemes and 10 stock background images, but that's about it.
We've seen some workarounds before but they require firing up the HEX editor to modify system files, and you are still limited to 256-color background images in a handful of specific sizes. That’s more work than most people are probably willing to bother with and as you can imagine the results are not quite optimal.
Enter Decor8. Stardock’s latest Windows 8 customization app removes this limitation by giving users the ability to pick any picture they want, regardless of size or color range, as the Start screen background.
Change Windows 8 Start screen background
The program is pretty straightforward to use. Upon launching Decor8, you’ll be presented with a set of background images to choose from, including the start screen and desktop background images that Windows 8 ships with and also a set of wallpapers that Stardock ships with the app. You get the usual fill, fit, tile and center options available in the classic desktop, and the program will automatically create a color scheme to match each of your background images -- or you can manually customize the color scheme if you’re so inclined.
You can add folders to the program to use your own photos and images as background. There’s also the option to select multiple background images by holding down the Ctrl key, and have them rotate on a set time interval, as well as the option to fade background images against the start screen color for a subtle effect.
Change Windows 8 Start screen background
Sadly, Decor8 is not free. Stardock offers a free 30-day trial but otherwise asks a modest $4.99 for the app. It’s a little unnerving to pay for such basic functionality but if you wish to customize the Windows 8 Start screen beyond what Microsoft offers this is the easiest-to-use tool we’ve found. It does one thing and it does it well.

Android Part 2 : Tips And Tricks

Posted on 20:06 by Unknown
Part 2 begins Here :

How to Create, Rename and Remove Folders
Other than the apps on the tray, sometimes it's difficult to quickly look for an app to open if you have many icons spreading across a few home screens. Why not create a folder to group similar apps together? It's much easier than you might think.
  1. Create a Folder for AppsTouch and hold any icon for a second.
  2. Drag the icon over the top of another. The system then automatically groups two app icons in a folder.
  3. Touch the folder, then tap "Unnamed Folder", key in a name for the folder and tap "Done".
You can rename a folder at any time—tap a folder then tap its name to rename.
While the system auto creates a folder for you, it does the same to removing a folder automatically—tap a folder to expand it, then clear all grouped items inside the folder—just touch and hold, then drag them out from the folder one by one.
Note: Older Android system doesn't support this feature, but you can rely on a third-party app such as GO Launcher EX to achieve almost the same effect.

How to Type Faster with Multiple Spaces
Instead of typing a period at the end of each sentence and follow by a space, you can tap the space bar twice to get the same result.

How to Type Special Characters
If you often need to switch between the on-screen Alphabet and Number keyboards just to type a comma in a sentence, then why not check out below to find out more?
Type Special CharactersWhile on the Alphabet keyboard:
  • , (comma) => touch and hold the Full-stop key (.)
  • ' (single quotation mark) => touch and hold the Full-stop key, and slide to choose the single quotation mark (')
  • " (double quotation mark) => touch and hold the Full-stop key, and slide to choose the double quotation mark (")
  • Turn caps lock on/off => double-tap the Shift key to lock, single-tap to unlock.
  • Special letters not on the keyboard? => touch and hold a key, then slide to choose a variation (See the screenshot).
  • Need just a digit or symbol from the Number keyboard? => touch the ?123 key and slide to a digit or symbol key, and you're back to the Alphabet keyboard automatically.
While on the Number keyboard:
  • Symbols not on the keyboard? => touch and hold a key, then slide to choose a variation, or tap the #\< key to find out more.
  • Often type an equation? => touch and hold the #\< key, tap a sign and you're back to the Number keyboard when you release the #\< key.
  • Need just a letter from the Alphabet keyboard? => touch the ABC key and slide to a letter key, and you're back to the Number keyboard automatically.

How to Cut, Copy and Paste
Cut, Copy and PasteThis looks simple but can be tricky sometimes when you use different apps. In general, these steps can be used in Email or some other apps:
  1. Double-tap or touch-and-hold to select a word.
  2. Drag the handles to adjust the area if needed, then tap Cut or Copy.
  3. Tap an insert point, and drag the handle to adjust it if needed.
  4. Select Paste (Hint: tab the handle when the 'Paste' button doesn't appear).
Note: When working in a web browser such as Android's Browser, use touch-and-hold to select a word since "double-tap" has been used to enlarge or reduce a webpage.

How to Turn Off Auto-Correction
Auto-CorrectionWhen you're typing through, the system checks your spelling and suggests a few words. Unless you've selected one of them, the highlighted suggested word overwrites your word when you finish typing it followed by a space, punctuation mark or return character. If you feel that's annoying, you can turn off Auto-Correction.
  1. Open the app Settings and select 'Language & input' under PERSONAL.
  2. Tap the Quick Settings iconQuick-Settings.png next to 'Android keyboard'.
  3. Select 'Auto correction' under TEXT CORRECTION.
  4. Select 'Off' to turn off 'Auto-Correction'.
Note: As an alternative, whenever a word is replaced not to your liking, you can tap the Delete key immediately after which and the system returns the word you've typed.

How to Lock Screen Orientation
The Android screen switches to either the portrait or landscape view in response to the way you hold the device when you run certain apps. What if I want to lock the screen orientation to one view so that the screen doesn't rotate to another? Easy.
  1. Run the Settings app.
  2. Tap Display under DEVICE.
  3. Uncheck "Auto-rotate screen".
Your screen will then lock to the portrait mode. To unlock it, check the above option.

How to Print Screen
Where’s the PrintScreen button when you need to take a screen shot of your Android device? Instead of using one button, try a combination of two:
  1. Press and hold down the Power and Volume-down buttons simultaneously.
  2. Open the Gallery app, and you can see your screenshot already saved in the Screenshots album.
Note: Older Android system doesn't support this feature, but it has a more complicated way to take screenshots using Android SDK such as this without rooting the device.

How to Select Wallpapers for your Android
Select WallpapersYou can easily select a wallpaper from a collection of a few in your system and set it as wallpaper for your Home screens.
  1. Touch and hold an empty location of a home screen.
  2. Choose either Gallery, Live Wallpapers or Wallpapers from the pop-up menu.
  3. Select an image and set it as wallpaper.
Alternatively, you can run the Settings app, then go to DEVICE > Display > Wallpaper, and continue with the step 2 above.

How to Access Notifications
Access NotificationsAt the top of your screen, you will see notifications which report calendar events, alarms, incoming mails or other ongoing events. Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the list of notifications, then swipe up from the O-sign to hide it.
  • Depending on the notification type, you can swipe a notification sideway to dismiss it, or tap the X-sign to dismiss all from the list.
  • To access a notification, tap it and you're taken to the related email, reminder, message or app. The notification then clears automatically from the list where applicable.
Note: When you slide down from the top of the screen, you can also see this Quick Settings iconQuick-Settings_blue16.png. Touching this icon is equivalent to running the Settings app.

How to Edit Bookmarks and Folders in Android's Browser
Just like most browsers, the default Browser in Android allows you to add bookmarks and folders easily for getting to the websites fast when browsing.
Add a bookmark/folder
  1. On the page you like to bookmark, tap the Menu buttonMenu-16.png and select 'Save to bookmarks'.
  2. Change the Label if needed.
  3. Click 'OK' to save to Bookmarks, or select 'Add to' then 'Other folder', browse to a folder or add a new folder and tap 'OK'.
Remove a bookmark/folder
  1. Tap the Tabs button Tabs-16.png, then the Bookmarks button Bookmark-16.png.
  2. Touch and hold a bookmark or a folder, then select 'Delete bookmark' or 'Delete folder' from the pop-up menu.
  3. Press 'OK' to confirm.

How to Add a Web Clip Icon to Home Screen
If you frequently visit a web page, you can tap a web clip or bookmark icon on your home screen and quickly access the page without the need to touch the Browser icon. This web clip icon can be added to your home screen easily:
  1. Add a Web Clip IconOn the page you often visit, tap the Menu buttonMenu-16.png in Android's Browser.
  2. Select 'Save to bookmarks'.
  3. Edit the Label if necessary, then select 'Add to' and tap "Home Screen'.
Next time you visit the same web page, just tap the web clip icon on your home screen. Some websites including Gizmo's Freeware have a web clip icon which has been customized for you (see the screenshot).

How to Send Instant Messages
Besides third-party apps, Messenger developed by Google gives you a real-time instant messaging service via Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G for Android users. To use this service and send an instant message from your Android device is pretty straightforward.
  1. Tap the Messenger app icon.
  2. Tap the plus sign and add a person or a group of people from your circles.
  3. Add text or photos and tap the Send button.
Note: Messenger appears as a standalone app that comes with your Android system, or as a component of the Google+ app that can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

How to Setup Mail Accounts and Sync Options
The Android system allows for adding multiple mail accounts including GMail, Exchange, Yahoo, Hotmail and others. To set up a mail account is straightforward especially for this example, GMail.
  1. Open the app Email.
  2. Enter Email address and Password, then tap 'Next' for verifying.
  3. Leave 'Sync email form this account' checked, select other options you like, and tap 'Next'.
  4. Enter your name to be displayed on outgoing messages, and tap 'Next' to finish.
After this setting, you can then open the app Email to send emails and read incoming mails, which are automatically synced with your GMail account over the air.

How to Add a Mail Signature
Mail SignatureEach time you send out an email using the Email app, you can have a mail signature, such as 'Sent from my mobile device', automatically added at the end of your message.
  1. Open the app Email, tap the Menu buttonMenu-16.png, then Settings.
  2. Tap the email account that you've set up.
  3. Tap 'Signature', enter a signature in a few words you like then tap 'OK' to confirm.

How to Sync Emails, Contacts and Calendars
The Android system allows you to operate and sync your emails, contacts, calendars and other items using multiple accounts. You can set your accounts to sync these items on your device with the servers automatically or manually.
  1. Run the Settings app, select 'Accounts & sync' under PERSONAL.
  2. At the top, tap to switch the 'Accounts & sync' to 'ON' for automatic syncing, or 'OFF' for manual syncing.
When the 'Accounts & sync' is switched off, you can touch an account and sync contacts or other items manually—either touch an item to sync or tap the Menu button then 'Sync now' to sync all items. The last synced date and time are shown below each item.

How to Browse and Edit Files on your Mobile
Browse and Edit FilesYou might have a lot of your files you want to browse through, copy, rename or delete them on your mobile device like the way you do in Windows. Unfortunately you can't do much as Android 4.0 has not had a built-in file manager, but you can easily install a third party app from the Google Play Store.
  1. Run the Play Store app.
  2. Tap the Search button and enter the name of a file manager, such as ES File Explorer, one of the popular.
  3. Tap the app from the list and download it.
  4. Open the app and enjoy working with your files and folders on your mobile device.

How to Copy Files between your Mobile and PC
Connect WirelesslyWhat if you need to copy files and folders between your mobile device and PC? You can do so by connecting your mobile device to your PC using a USB cable provided. Better still, you can connect them wirelessly via a local WiFi network to do the same or even more without needing a cable.
  1. Run the Play Store app.
  2. Tap the Search button and enter the name of a remote desktop app, such as AirDroid
  3. Tap the app from the list and download it.
  4. Open the app and start using it to connect your mobile to PC for copying files wirelessly and doing even more between the two platforms.

How to Share Mobile Data Connection
When you're using an Android device with mobile data connection enabled, wouldn't it be convenient for another computer device such as a Windows-based notebook to share this connection for access to the Internet? Yes, you can do a wireless connection via a portable hotspot, or a wired connection using a USB cable:
Turn your Android mobile into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot:
  1. On your mobile, go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.
  2. Tap "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" to enable it.
  3. Tap "Configure Wi-Fi hotspot" to enter an ID and password to prevent unauthorized connections.
  4. On a computer with Wi-Fi connectivity, click the network icon on the system tray to identify and connect to the wireless network you set.
Enable USB tethering on your Android mobile:
  1. Connect a computer to your Android device with a USB cable.
  2. On your mobile, go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.
  3. Tap "USB tethering" to enable it.
  4. On the computer, click the network icon on the system tray to identify and connect to the wired network. The Windows system may take more than a minute to discover the network for Internet access.
Note: Enabling Bluetooth tethering on your Android mobile to allow for Internect access from a computer is also possible after the two devices are paired.

How to Backup and Restore your Data
Backup and RestoreUsing the Android system, you can automatically back up your data, such as a list of apps you've installed, the words you've added to dictionary, your Wi-Fi passwords, Browser bookmarks and other settings via your Google account on the servers.
  1. Run the app Settings, tap 'Backup & reset' under PERSONAL.
  2. Check both 'Back up my data' and 'Automatic restore' if they're unchecked.
When you need to reset your device or re-install an app which makes use of the backup service, you can then restore your data and settings from your Google account.

How to Lock your Android Device
Don't like your kids to mess with your mobile or someone to read your emails on your device? Lock it with a password, pin, pattern or even use Face Unlock.
  1. Open the app Settings and select 'Security' under PERSONAL.
  2. Select 'Screen lock' under SCREEN SECURITY.
  3. Tap a type of security either Pattern, Pin, Password or Face Unlock to lock your device.
Each time when your device is turned on, you'll have to use the same security type to access your device.

How to Reboot the System
In the event your Android apps freeze or the system becomes unresponsive, you can try to reboot the system as follows:
  1. Press and hold the Power button of your device until a pop-up menu appears. Select 'Power off' and tap 'OK' to confirm. The system will then turn off.
  2. Turn the system on by pressing and holding the Power button until the Google logo appears.
